Trocadero – Please don’t change it……
It was a great privilege to work on this the oldest restaurant in Dublin. The Trocadero has been around since 1955! It was a challenging project because the brief was “don’t change the atmosphere because it works but it needs to be upgraded”! So we took a grande old dame and gave her a facelift by keeping the key elements of lush red velvet seating and red carpet and bringing in a silvery taupe layer which complimented the red while sitting nicely alongside the silver mirrors and black and white picture frames. The taupe velvet curtains and chairs along with elegant wallpaper dampened down the all consuming red. The introduction of detailed elements like the bands of black and mirror framing to the fireplace and the matching glass hanging rack over the bar counter brought elegance and a contemporary edge which fitted in perfectly.
