Design
Our brief was to design traditional style toilets that would compliment the existing pub, a space that would be elegant, attractive, bright and also practical for maintaining. The previous toilets looked dark and narrow – the ceiling looked low. With light colours and the rearrangement of the cubicle locations, we were able to change the whole atmosphere to feel bright and spacious. We detailed the floor with classical terrazzo in green and white with beautiful brass inlay details. Each pillar base was coved in terrazzo to making cleaning easy but it also makes for an attractive classical detail. Partitions in shop sprayed white paint display unusual ribbed details. The interior of the cubicles surprise with dark green panelling with gold mouldings – a cocoon experience by the colour change from bright white to dark green! The large tourist trade of O’Neills encouraged us to fit old style cisterns with chain pulls which send them home talking about their experience!
